Louisiana Business Profile

Business Climate

The following information on Louisiana incentives and financing is a summary of programs, and was taken from information provided by the Louisiana Department of Economic Development.

Louisiana has one of the most comprehensive incentive packages found in the United States.

Incentives include property tax exemptions, tax credits for new jobs, freeport laws for goods in transit and enterprise zones. Regarding taxes, Louisiana's individual income tax is one of the lowest in the nation, while the state's corporate income tax (which may be partially waived under certain incentive plans) is based on the net income of domestic and foreign corporations derived in Louisiana.

Eight Planning and Development Districts cut across political boundaries to develop bonds between the state's businesses and government. They help communities with economic expansion, job training and informational services. Other support services your business may draw on range from technical and financial assistance to public relations.

A Qualified Recycling Equipment Tax Credit Program is administered by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ). In addition, you may schedule a pre-permit review meeting with the LDEQ to become better acquainted with the rules and regulations that apply to your business on a case-by-case basis.
