Permit Office

 

Residential:

Electric Service:  Only licensed Electrician may contact the permit office to receive a permit. The customer is never to call the permit office!

        •         Temporary construction

•         Permanent construction     

•         Upgrade, Rewire, Repair

•         Electrical code violation (tampering, theft, faulty wiring)

•         6 month vacancy

•         Fire

•         Permit expires 6 months

•         Exemptions: 6400 and higher # St. Claude St

- All Jackson Barracks Area

•         Address change letter is required (effective September 14, 1995) on property with non-standard addresses (examples: upper, lower, upfr, ½, etc…) whether in apartment or house number fields before orders can be released for services.  The owner has to contact the City of New Orleans Planning and Zoning department.

•         Addresses will be changed by the Permit desk when address change information is received.

•         Please inform customer to mark meter bases accordingly to address changes

•         DEMO PERMITS (REMOVAL OF ELEC SERV FOR DEMO) WILL BE SENT BY CITY

•         DEMO PERMITS (REMOVAL OF ELEC SERV FOR DEMO) WILL BE SENT BY CITY

Do not accept DEMO PERMITS FROM CUSTOMER

  

Gas service: Only licensed Plumber may contact the permit office to receive an approval. The customer is never to call the permit office!   

•         Permanent construction

•         Replacement of water heater or heating unit

•         Gas leaks

•         Relocate gas lines

•         Upgrade gas lines

•         Reconnect gas lines (if customer raise house or etc…)

•         Fire

•         Permit expires 6 months

•         Exemptions: 6400 and higher # St. Claude St
